Exhibition Schedule 2013

It has been an intense year of past and current production of work, and I have really been enjoying creating pieces for each show. I have taken a leap into oil this year, exploring it's benefits and challenges. This year is a combination of a body of works in Acrylic or oil and it has been a year of tremendous growth for me, in navigating through my discovery of oils. I continue to assert my effort in learning.

Below is a list of the 2013 Schedule.

Greetings!

I have some big things happening this year that I will get into a bit later, but for now-
The playful season of Spring is gaining momentum and I am thrilled it has arrived! I love the freshness of spring, with the sound of birds rustling about early in the morning, and the animals, birds and bees becoming frisky from the winter's long slumber. What a soft and sweet way to wake up. Of course we can't forget the main attraction, Spring's shining star: Flora!

I am pleased to announce a wonderful group show that I will be contributing a piece to, opening in May, hosted by the wonderful folks at Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco, appropriately titled:

"The Language Of Flowers", with artists
Christopher Umana,
Redd Walitzki,
Joka,
Archer Dougherty,
Rudy Fig,
Kassie McMahon,
Amy Minchew, and more

This will take place in tandem with Helice Wen Solo show; "Between Lost and Found".

All of the pieces look amazing so far, and you will not want to miss this in person.

I have selected The White Rose and it's meaning Silence, along with featuring some bleeding hearts with it's meaning of elegance, (although for me a deeper meaning). I will be posting a pic of my finished piece closer to the date of opening. Enjoy the show!

February 2013 group show

This February 2013:

Modern Eden Gallery in San Francisco CA presents two shows in tandem

Archer Dougherty solo "Bound"
and
"Venice", invitational artists group show based on the inspiration of the Beautiful city of Italy.

Artwork pictured from right to left: Archer Dougherty and Melissa Hartley.

Venice is a city like no other on earth with its canals, baroque architecture, and fabled history. From Titian, Bellini and Canaletto to Whistler, Monet and numerous other artists throughout history, Venice has been a constant muse and inspiration.  Idealized and romanticized in art and literature, traveled and adored by countless millions, Venice continues to inspire to this day. The grand decaying architecture, the reflections off the grand canal, the dramatic horrors of the Carnivale and the colorful delights of the sinking city all define an otherworldly place, a place of macabre intentions, where imagination fills in the blanks of what is possible.
